Computational Thinking Presentation Narration Artifact (week 8)

I chose to add a brief audio narration to my presentation on computational thinking in physics and astronomy classes.

  • What type of microphone or recording device did you use to record your audio narration?
    • Logitech BRIO Webcam with integrated microphone
  • How do you think the audio turned out?
    • This is the same camera I’ve been using for virtual presentations and for online teaching. It is easy to use and produces great quality audio and video.
  • What problems, if any, did you experience while recording your narration?
    • The audio needed to be in MP3 format for use in Google Slides rather than the newer MP4 format. I used VLC to convert.
  • If you had problems, were you able to solve them, either partially or totally? If so, how did you solve the problem(s)?
    • Having experience with tools like this, I knew that I could easily convert from one audio format to another. Easy enough!
  • Did you use PowerPoint to record your audio narration? If so:
  • Did you use any of the audio tools in PowerPoint, such as the Trim Audio or Fade Duration tools? If so, please describe how you used these features.
    • The Microsoft Office Suite is industry standard for a reason, but nonetheless, it was easier to use tools meant for audio and so I did.
  • Did you set the audio in PowerPoint to play automatically or manually on your slides?
    • Once the presentation loads, the audio begins.
  • What problems, if any, did you experience adding audio to PowerPoint?
    • The biggest issue was the format of the audio needed to be MP3 instead of MP4.
  • Did you use another audio recording software program to record your audio narration? If so:
  • Which audio recording software program did you use?
    • I used ScreenFlow with only the audio channel recording.
  • What problems, if any, did you experience using the program?
    • I have used ScreenFlow before for audio-only recordings. No issues.
  • Did you have any problems using the recording function?
    • None.
  • If you used music, please describe where you found it and how you combined it with your audio narration.
    • I am not a fan of using music in narration so I didn’t.
